Weekly Top for 10-26-18

Folks,



Spooktacular-
It was a fun evening at the John & Dede Auditorium last evening as our 7th-12th grade orchestra students put on a wonderful concert!  Burke and Rachel really have a lot to be proud of!

Congratulations to Burke!-
Burke recently presented at a state music conference, and they loved his presentation so much he was asked to present at the national conference!  What a compliment this is!





No Monday meeting-
We have no formal staff, school improvement, technology meeting this Monday.  Enjoy the Monday PM off!




End of the 1st MP-
Next Friday, November 2nd is the end of the 1st Marking Period.  Grades will be due the following Monday, November 5th at 4:00 PM.




Goal in iObservation-
Please remember that you goal is due by midnight on Halloween, Oct. 31st.  The goal can be any from the menu of the Marzano framework, or see Craig or I if you have another goal in mind.




UPTO-
At the PTO meeting they approved funding for feeding us between afternoon and evening conferences again.  They also approved a classroom grant for Michelle Vukorpa, and goody bags & coffee for Career Day presenters.





Marigold of the week-
Renee Menke is our Marigold of the week!  She really has done a wonderful job coordinating our Career Day that will take place two weeks from today on Friday, November 9th.
          




2 half days-
Thursday, November 8th-  All six hours for 30 minutes.
Friday, November 9th- Career Day (A schedule will soon be available)




Wednesday, November 14th former NBA Speaker-
This is a late start day.  We will have the guest speaker and run an alternate schedule (two-hour delay schedule).  This will allow for each class to run for approximately 40 minutes.

Weekly Top for 10-19-18

Folks,



UMS School Improvement Monday-
We will have time with our The Ultimate Gift groups and with your departments on an activity.













End of Rotation 1/Start of Rotation 2-
Monday marks the end of the 1st rotation and Tuesday is the start of Rotation 2.  We will run a locker clean-out on Tuesday.  (We will do this at the start of every new rotation.)




Flu Shot Tuesday-
This Tuesday, October 23rd is our flu shot clinic from 3:00-5:00 PM.  


8th grade field trips-
Just a reminder that the 8th grade field trips are next Tuesday and Thursday at the fish hatchery and water plant.  This is the kick-off to Salmon in the Classroom.



Planetarium Show-
The planetarium community show is next Tuesday evening beginning at 6:30 PM.  This show is:  The Little Star That Could.  Here is the trailer for the show:  The Little Star That Could Trailer


Spooktacular Orchestra Concert-
Next Thursday, October 25th is the orchestra Spooktacular Concert at the John & Dede Auditorium at SJHS beginning at 7:00 PM.  It is always a fun concert, and often has some surprises! 


UPTO-
Our UPTO meeting was moved to next Thursday, October 25th at noon.  If you have a reasonably priced need for your classroom they have mini grants available.

Technology Monday-
This excerpt if from Amy's email on Wednesday afternoon:

I hope your week is going well! We have a tech meeting scheduled for this coming Monday, October 8th.  This meeting can be self-directed, but we will also be offering support and some new content for those interested.

The agenda for the meeting will be as follows:

1.  Assistive technology features in SchoolNet
2.  Two Student Engagement Tools
3.  Work time for Tech Goal and Assignment

The Tech Goal Assignment can be found in itsLearning under COURSES in the Upton Middle School course.  Click on RESOURCES and you will find it listed as the first resource.  Submissions are due by the end of the day (11:59 PM) Monday, October 8th.




Choir Concert next Thursday-
Next Thursday beginning at 7:00 PM is the first choir concert of the school year.  It would bring great joy to your students' faces if you showed up to support them.  They really do notice you there. :)  It will take place at the John & Dede Auditorium at SJHS.





Flu Shot-
I know many of you signed up next to Teri that you were interested in the flu shot, but now I need a solid for sure number.  Please resign up on the sheet near Teri with the names of the people who will receive a shot and take a sheet for each person to fill out prior to your shot.  It is once again going to take place on Oct. 23rd.  Here is the pdf of the poster:  Flu Shot Clinic Reminder
