Weekly Top for 10-14-22

 Folks,

Assembly Next Friday, Oct. 21st-

We will begin the Daniel Ament assembly on vaping around 9:00 AM maybe a little earlier depending on how long it takes us to get the whole student body in the Blue Gym.  This will be our first all-school assembly in the Blue Gym this school year and if in your advisory next week you could mix in some audience etiquette that would be wonderful.  I think this has the potential to be a very powerful assembly!  Thanks to Mary Byerle for all her coordination with this!

Here is the link for Daniel's story:  https://youtu.be/Tp8CZ4UKSM8

Mrs. Bobbie Eichler's Arrangements-

This Monday, October 17th at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Sodus, MI.  Visitation at 11:00 AM and funeral at 12:00.  We will be sending a plant to Wes and his family from the flower fund.  Thanks to those that have contributed to this fund!

Early Heads Up-

We will be running a 1-6 schedule for 30 minutes per class on Thursday, November 10th (parent-teacher conference day) and career day on Friday, November 11th.  Beth, Suzi, and Torrey are doing a lot of leg work to make sure Nov. 11th is a memorable day for our students.  More information will be available soon on this.

Choir Concert Next Tuesday, Oct. 18th-

Our three choirs will perform at the John & Dede Auditorium at SJHS this Tuesday, October 18th at 7:00 PM.  Beth's choirs always put on a wonderful performance!

Draft in Advisory-

The first steps to new advisory groups will start next Tuesday during advisory.  Each student in advisory will choose a few teachers that they think they can work with for the rest of the year.  After that on Monday, October 24th we will begin the "draft".

Folks,

Count Day Paperwork-

Hopefully Count Day went well for you!  Please continue to mark the P for students when they return from Wednesday (Oct. 5th).  Also, don't forget to sign the sheet in the office in front of Grace's desk.

October 21st Assembly-

On Friday, October 21st (time to be determined) we will be having a guest speaker, Daniel Ament, who will be talking to our student body about the dangers of vaping.  The video clip shared below tells the story.  Our health students in the district know about Daniel.  Mary Byerle has played a huge role in making this possible.  Please take a few moments to watch this video from Good Morning America.

From the Desk of the Technology Department-

Starting over the weekend of October 7th-9th, staff will have the choice to set their own Start Page(s) and Home Page(s) when they launch the Google Chrome web browser

The startup page, which is configurable under your Chrome settings -> On Startup.  This is what launches the first time you open Chrome.  Right now this is set for you to the District Staff Symbaloo, and you can set this to still be the case in this section, or set it as your homepage instead if you wish (see below).

For reference, if you would like to continue setting the District Staff Symbaloo as your startup page or homepage, the URL is http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/sjpsstaff

The home button will always bring you to a new tab by default, or what you have set as your homepage under your Chrome settings -> Appearance.  You can set that to whatever you wish.  Directions on how to do so are found here.

Nothing will change for students and they will still be set to the District Symbaloo on startup, however they can still set what loads with their "home" button.

Please email support@sjschools.org if you have any questions.

Seizure Training This Past Monday-

Did you take the survey? -

Did you take the survey Jenny sent out on Monday?  If not, please take a few minutes to do so!

October Checklist -
For those of you at the meeting on Monday I let you know about the October checklist in your mailbox.  I hope you find this helpful.  Also, please give your flower fund $ to Laura if you have not done so.  Thanks!
